Using the newly opened Miami Intermodal Center (MIC), passengers at Miami International Airport can quickly access light-rail, commuter trains, Amtrak, buses and rental cars. The $2 billion MIC is designed to connect the region's transportation modes and reduce highway congestion.
MIC is strikingly similar to the O'Hare transfer station proposal, with commuter trains, Amtrak and buses converging around a rental car facility, connected by a people mover to the airport. An O'Hare transfer station, which will serve a much larger airport and region, could see even greater benefits than the Miami facility.
